The Community Council are sponsoring an initiative to create a community-led plan for future developments in and around East Saltoun and West Saltoun. When complete, and once approved by East Lothian Council, this will become our Local Place Plan.

It will provide a blue print for developments that we would like to achieve (for example: creating new paths, or installing Christmas tree lighting; the futures of the Fletcher Hall, Saltoun School, and Saltoun Kirk; also including future residential development). Planning officials have to take a Local Place Plan into account when making decisions relating to new developments.

We want to encourage as many people as possible to sign up now to show the community’s interest in our own future.

We are going to produce four online surveys, to be released each Thursday in November. Everyone who signs up will receive the surveys by their preferred medium, either WhatsApp or email.

Please sign up and encourage friends and neighbours to sign up too. We want to hear from as many local residents as possible so that we can ensure that the surveys will represent the full breadth and strength of views of the community.

The surveys will cover:

• Sustainability & Environment
• Community Facilities & Amenities
• Housing
• Connectivity & Business

Once the surveys are complete we will compile the results and share them at a community event. After receiving feedback from this we will look to prepare the Local Place Plan.
