A Guide to Spotting Scams
Many people have suffered from or been left concerned by possible telephone, online or in person scams.
The Consumers Association has produced a good guide to spotting scams which we thought might be useful.
They also offer a useful free alert service for new scams – you can sign up here.
Another resource is Action Line, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime.
Community Council Elections
Humbie, East & West Saltoun and Bolton
Your chance to get involved
The next community council elections to the 20 community councils across East Lothian are due to take place this autumn, following their postponement last year. Nomination papers will be issued on Monday 30th August with the deadline for lodging nominations being 4pm on Thursday 16th September.
In situations where there are more nominees than the number of seats available, the elections will take the form of a postal ballot. The East Lothian Council’s elections team will be providing their expertise in managing this part of the process.
The publication of notice of poll and statement of nominees will take place on Tuesday 21 September with the ballots closing on Thursday 7 October at 12 noon.
If you have any questions about the Autumn elections please contact [email protected].
