Community Council Elections

Humbie, East & West Saltoun and Bolton

Your chance to get involved

The next community council elections to the 20 community councils across East Lothian are due to take place this autumn, following their postponement last year. Nomination papers will be issued on Monday 30th August with the deadline for lodging nominations being 4pm on Thursday 16th September.

In situations where there are more nominees than the number of seats available, the elections will take the form of a postal ballot. The East Lothian Council’s elections team will be providing their expertise in managing this part of the process.

The publication of notice of poll and statement of nominees will take place on Tuesday 21 September with the ballots closing on Thursday 7 October at 12 noon.

Coronavirus Mobile Testing Units

The locations in East Lothian where COVID-19 mobile testing units will be deployed over the next week have been confirmed, with North Berwick Community Centre being added to the schedule.

As almost 1 in 3 people who have Covid-19 don’t show any of the usual symptoms, it’s possible for people to be passing the virus on to loved ones and people in the community. By getting tested – even if someone feels fine and has received vaccination – they can find out if they are positive, and take immediate action to stop the spread of the virus to others, by self-isolating.

A fixed testing centre, located at the former Stoneyhill Community Centre in Musselburgh, continues to operate from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11am-6pm. The facility, which is open to everyone from East Lothian as long as they don’t have symptoms, was visited this week by Provost John McMillan and Community Wellbeing Spokesperson Jim Goodfellow.

Getting tested is quick and easy. No appointment is required.

Anyone with symptoms – most commonly a continuous cough, fever/high temperature, loss of or change in sense of smell/taste – is required to book a test elsewhere.

The schedule for mobile test units (generally open 10am-6pm unless stated otherwise), which can also be visited by people with no symptoms, is:
