Saltoun Local Place Plan FAQs

Yes! Below is a list of the four surveys being released through November. Links will be available to the previously released surveys about a week after they are distributed to signed up residents. The Scottish Government introduced Local Place Plans as a way for communities to propose how land around them was developed or used. These plans may also identify land and buildings that the community body considers to be of particular significance to the local area.

The Humbie, East & West Saltoun and Bolton Community Council is organising the Local Place Plan for the Saltoun area through a group volunteers from the area.

Following drop-in sessions hosted by the Lennoxlove Estate / Hamilton Farming Enterprise there were many questions raised by members of the community about future development in the area. The Community Council took the opportunity to enlist interested members of the community to record and compile the breadth of views of residents to help us create a vibrant, happy future for our village.

More than just being about potential development of buildings we want to take the opportunity to ask the community about a broader range of local issues as well.

Initially we are asking residents to sign up on our website to an e-mail or WhatsApp distribution list. That way we can easily contact everyone when we send out our surveys. For members of the community unable to complete electronic surveys we ask them, or a friend or neighbour, to inform us by way of the Saltoun Community Association drop box in the old East Saltoun telephone box.

We will collate the results and share them for comment at a community event after which we can create the Local Place Plan.

We would like to hear from everyone who lives in the old Saltoun parish area. That encompasses East Saltoun and West Saltoun and all the surrounding houses and farms. We will be distributing flyers by hand to all these addresses.

Every Thursday in November you will receive a short survey on each of four topics about the area:

  • Sustainability & Environment
  • Community Facilities & Amenities
  • Housing
  • Connectivity & Business
