Become a Community Councillor

Community Councils are run on a voluntary basis by local people. They act as a vital link between East Lothian Council and the local area and give residents an opportunity to speak out on local issues of concern. Meetings are usually held once a month.

You nominate yourself for the role. The only restrictions are that you are over 16 years old and live in the Humbie, East and West Saltoun and Bolton area.

The nomination period runs from 1 September until 4pm on Thursday 18 September.  Nomination forms are available to download, collect from ELC, John Muir House, Haddington, or by contacting the Election Office [email protected] or by calling 01620 820185.

Completed forms must be submitted by 4pm on 18 September.

An election will only be required if there are more people nominated than places available on the community council.  Should any elections be necessary they will take place on Thursday 9 October.
